The state of the nutrition and fitness industry right now is a mess. It's way too confusing for most people to figure out. Everyone has a blog and is an ‘expert’ on what you should eat and how you should train. Sadly we get influenced by unique genetic individuals who tell us that if you do what they do then you’ll look like them. I wish it was that easy.
I’ve seen a bunch of hopeful people put their trust in a diet or philosophy that end’s up failing them in the long-run...but makes the creator of the diet rich and famous in the short term.
The bottom line regarding nutrition is it’s tough ! because if it was easy, everyone would have the body they want.
Zone. Atkins. Weight Watchers. Low fat. Paleo. Vegetarianism. Low carb.
None of those diets are bad. In fact, many are quite good, especially the ones that help control appetite, improve food quality, and raise nutrition awareness.
However...they're all still diets. They're all saying the same thing: "My way is better than your way." And that's what gets me. The finality of it. The arrogance of it. It's my way or the highway.
You're either gonna eat low carbs and high protein or all raw veggies and no meat, or whatever ... or you're never gonna get in shape.
The truth is there is absolutely no "best diet" that every person should follow.
If the people who write diet books spent more time actually working with clients, they may start to understand this.
People who espouse a certain diet can sound a little like religious zealots,
"Carbs? . We all like 'em. But this program is all about cutting way back. Low carb is what works, period. So say goodbye to pasta. Potatoes too. And rice. And sugar ..."
"I understand the moral and ethical obligation you feel, but eating animals ... that's how we do it. You need the protein and the fat. And it's how our ancestors ate. So suck it up buttercup”
